    Hi Osteen,

I’m sorry to hear about your health. Taking progesterone only may help with your symptoms. Your doctor is correct, estrogens cause cells to grow, including cancer cells. I heard you say you take progesterone, what type of progesterone are you taking? If you are taking a natural/bioidentical progesterone, that’s great. Ask your doctor if you can get a prescription for that alone. If you are not taking natural progesterone, ask your doctor if they can help you with that. More thank likely you are having symptoms now because your hormones are in a similar state they were in when you were in your late 30s. Stopping estrogen cold turkey also can cause undesirable withdrawal symptoms. Most doctors advise you not to stop estrogen suddenly, instead they advice you to ween yourself off of estrogen by taking a pill every other day. But with your cancer diagnosis, I’m not sure if that is an option for you. If your doctor will not give you a progesterone only prescription, you can buy an over the counter progesterone cream at health food stores like Whole Foods or online at Source Natural’s Natural Progesterone Cream and Emerita’s ProGest are good progesterone creams.
